Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood (Храм Спаса на Крови) in St. Petersburg, Russia.
What incredible architecture we have here! Such an exterior is just beautiful! I’ve never seen anything like it! What’s really interesting about this is that this church is not the usual Neoclassical or Baroque style that we see in many churches (Europe mostly). It depicts medieval Russian architecture which is so patriotic, and it greatly reflects the talent and artistry of Russia. And I think that is something very praiseworthy.
Thanks to chief architect Alfred Alexandrovich Parland, we can now admire the beauty of Russian architecture through this work. Too bad though, his body wasn’t allowed to be buried here because he was a Catholic and not a member of the Russian Orthodox (that is, if I remember the story correctly from our tour guide).
